Upon arrival in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. As Lhasa sits at 3,650 meters above sea level, it is important to take the day easy to acclimatize to the altitude. You can relax at your hotel or take a short walk around the city to get a feel for the local atmosphere. Enjoy a traditional Tibetan meal to experience the unique flavors of Tibetan cuisine. In the evening, your guide will provide a briefing on the upcoming tour days. Be sure to get a good night’s rest, as the next few days will be filled with exploration of Tibet’s most iconic landmarks.

After breakfast, begin your journey by visiting Drepung Monastery, once the world’s largest monastery and a key center of Tibetan Buddhism. Wander through its grand halls, prayer rooms, and ancient murals while learning about its historical significance. In the afternoon, head to Sera Monastery, where you will witness the lively monk debates, a unique tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. The debates are a fascinating spectacle of knowledge and reasoning. You’ll also have time to explore the monastery’s stunning courtyards and chapels. End the day with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, sampling more Tibetan dishes before returning to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

  • We have daily departures for this trip from March to May and from mid-September to mid-December. You can type in the number of passengers to book a reservation and select a date that is convenient for you. Due to group size, we never cancel a trip once you’ve made a reservation. If you would rather join the group, we will add more travelers on the selected date. You can let us know once you make a reservation or earlier.
